Canvas in the Chaos
At some point in the near future, my family and I will be relocating our belongings to create a different haven together. So the boxes are piling up. We are constantly tripping over boxes or shuffling boxes from here to there or wishing for that one thing we didn't think we'd need before unpacking again. The mess of the process is often frustrating and exhausting, but usually comes with a side of delightful too.
Tegan showed me this the other day. Calling for me from the other room, I shook the soap suds off and dried my hands. (Pull me from the dishes any day, kid!) I was halfway expecting to find the evidence of some sort of trouble he'd gotten into (I'm not terrible, just experienced!), but what a surprise to discover a proud smile and a showing of some of his best work! He'd been creating art on the boxes all around. I was caught off guard by his ability to find a canvas in the chaos, to make the best of the closed in things surrounding him. Kids are great at adapting to life and being open to create and find joy. I want to be more like that!
With a whole fresh week ahead of us, how about you and I follow my boy's example and put marker to cardboard. Let's make the best of whatever is in front of us, whether frustrating, exhausting or delightful.
