Hope Sown
While the teen was throwing the old age jokes up in the birthday boy's face, and the grill master was overseeing the goodness to be had; while the quietest girl wandered in and out of conversations looking for the right fit and the youngest was flipping through the room with energy uncontained; while the hostess readied more goodness and the birthday boy tried hard to keep up with it all, one among us offered glimpses of waking back to life.
Adding a little to conversations, cracking the tiniest of smiles, showing small affections. These are only pinholes in the black of struggle, but just enough light allowing a hope sown to be seen sprouting to life.
Keep sowing hope -- even in the darkest of times. Winter will give way to spring.
