On Top of the Year
Survivors. That's what we are. But learning to thrive in the midst of whatever environment we are submerged in. Sur-thrivers, if you will! Our family has just left the worst year of our lives. The threshold we cross into today is one of darkness still. How do we stand at the top of this new year and have hope when the usual optimistic landscape can't be seen? All we see is the never ending pain and struggle, the crazy grieving of someone who still walks among us, but not really. How do we keep going forward, embracing the trickles of beauty among the shards of brokenness?
The place we set our eyes makes all the difference. Remaining focused on the pain and the heartache and the never ending feeling sends us to the pit in seconds. Keeping our eyes on the loving, good, wise, compassionate, all-powerful, all-knowing God lifts our hearts and minds to the hope we crave. He is the game changer. The daily, intentional, moment by moment walking with Daddy makes putting one foot in front of the other even remotely possible.
Here we stand on top of the year. We can't see the beauty of the year ahead, can't even imagine it, sort of afraid to hope for it. But we see God standing with us. That is enough.
