In the Face of “X”
Waking up sometimes means facing "X" all over again, "X" being different for everyone. Fears, sickness, impossibilities, chronic pain, relationship tensions, unknowns, endless situations, a haunting past, a dreaded job. When hope is tired and the ability to keep fighting emptied, the heaviness of waking becomes a mountain all its own.
Like some of you, I woke up to face "X" again today. With the opening of my eyes came the cringing of my heart. My silent plea flew to my heavenly Daddy, begging Him to say the word and evaporate the struggle. I don't understand the how-comes or the how-longs, but I've tasted of His love. I trust His God-ways to redeem the brokenness, to accomplish the plan. Evaporating the struggle might also evaporate His good work. In the end, I want His way more than my own. So I pull back the covers, set my feet firmly on the Rock, and follow Him through "X" again.
If you woke to "X" today, hear me gently say: keep holding on. The hours, the days, the weeks may feel daunting, but the undercurrent of life keeps shifting and changing. Take each moment in stride, leaning deeper into the faithful God who keeps holding you.
