Celebrating Beauty
The world is filled with people, but not all people are created equal, as we all know. Two people, and one especially today, that raise the bar for the rest of society are my parents. Yes, I am completely biased, however, I wouldn't say it if it weren't true. Today's my mom's birthday. I wrote about the work side of her on our camp blog, but here, I wanted to offer encouragement through her.
My mom isn't the life of the party (though she is capable of such fun!). She hasn't attained worldly accomplishments and accolades that would awe you (though her accomplishments far exceed any of these). She doesn't have her life put together as she wishes she did (though she has a full life she enjoys daily). But my mom lives a quiet and humble life, using her gifts and talents and opportunities to bless, encourage and love. She shines at making the best of whatever lies in front of her. She possesses the strong character that only is developed through the thick and hard and impossible of life. She lives her life to the fullest in the capacity she is able.
(In sharing about my mom, I am careful to recognize those of you reading this that feel a void in the area of a mother. Please don't allow what I have to bring pain. May it be a reminder to continue to pursue your own becoming that you may offer the quiet beauty this world needs.)
Let's celebrate together the beauty each of us possesses! Thanks for being here!
