Show Up Scared
Last weekend, we lead the ladies retreat at camp. The Lord picked me to lead the encouragement and biblical portion of the weekend. Yes, “picked me” was the choice of words because I would never pick me for this job. And not “picked me” because I am an eloquent speaker or super spiritual; I think it was because what He’s been doing in my story He wanted to also do in the ladies who came. He’s economical like that.
You should know, me and public speaking are enemies. I wanted out of it, but He held me to it; He helped me say yes when I wanted to be a Moses and pull along an Aaron. (Shaun volunteered, but that didn’t seem kosher for a women’s event!!)
Here’s what I saw to be true this weekend that maybe can hold something for you too:
The Lord is faithful to stand with us when we show up scared (or nauseous 😂).
When we seek the Lord with our whole hearts and sit and listen for His voice, we actually encounter Him. (I saw women encounter the Lord this weekend simply because we created the space for the sitting and listening.)
I love creating space for people to sit with Jesus. Love it. Love it. Love it.
Women (people) are tired, in need of encouragement, rest, and each other (& love them some sweets and tea from real tea cups!)
Nothing needs to be perfect to be received! (circles back to the first thing — He’s faithful to accomplish what He wants!)
I’m not sure if God is asking something scary of you. I’m not sure if you’re feeling the need for a reminder that Jesus is with you. I’m not sure if you need to sit and have yourself a cup of tea so you can keep going today.
What I am sure of — slow down and believe Him.
Believe God to be faithful if what He’s asking feels too hard.
Believe God to be all your heart actually needs.
Believe God to restore your soul.
And slow down long enough to contemplate, listen, and sip that tea. You will only be better for it! The lies want you spinning in circles, ragged and worn, unfit to stand up straight and keep Him in your sights. Keeping Him in your sights is everything.
